Gosport, 1943
Best friends Eadie and Joy are back in war-torn Gosport, after a summer spent hop picking. In desperate need of jobs, as the British forces battle on, they find work as operatives at a manufacturer.
Doing their bit for the country, Eadie and Joy find fulfilment in their new roles, and a welcome respite from the never-ending bombing.
But when pregnant Eadie must harbour a secret and Joy's relationship is put in jeopardy, their hard-fought peace is threatened. Will their friendship get them through the darkest days of war?
